Both of which issues should be taken up with whoever designed the alert bracelet.
The first issue may be trivial to everybody but Seer, and maybe the priority on the casing redesign should be relatively low, but the “interferes with my cell signal” issue could mean serious problems. Let’s looks at some of them:
Lowest on the Serious Problem scale could be the FCC having issues with their use. It’s possible that they have already obtained an exemption from the usual rule that electronic devices “…may not cause interference…”.
Next up the list is the possibility that The Bad Guys, or any subgroup thereof, might me able to track this interference and use it to find out where Our Heroes are going, the better to plan ambushes or to know that the distraction has worked.
And finally, there’s the question, What else will that device interfere with? If they walk in to a hospital, will it interfere with life support devices? If they approach a police stakeout, will it cause a feedback squeal that may alert the persons being observed? And will it interfere with any of the critical systems of the fancy aircraft they’re about to take off in?
